Tricorona Climate Partner
Tricorona Climate Partner (TCP) has, during 2008, established itself as a world leader in the field of voluntary carbon offsetting. Our business concept is to offer companies, organizations and individuals full service solutions, all the way from calculating the climate impact of their activities to supplying allowances in accordance with their demands. Thanks to Tricorona’s size and global reach, TCP can offer customers a wide selection of high quality projects – from a variety of countries and businesses – that can be chosen according to their requirements. Increased expectations from customers in terms of project quality, additionality, and third-party verification, have benefited TCP’s business.
In 2008, TCP was ranked very high (and was the only company in the Nordic area to be ranked at all) by two independent, global studies of organizations in the market for carbon offsetting. The British Carbon Catalog ranked Tricorona in shared first place in terms of project quality, organization and transparency when it evaluated 90 leading global suppliers; and British Environmental Data Services (ENDS) placed Tricorona in its “Top 30” list of the companies that are most credible and achieve the highest quality in the field.
ENDS summarizes: “Tricorona is best suited for companies and organizations seeking high-quality projects (CDM), flexibility in the solution and services that create added value.” Tricorona ’s Climate Certification Both in Sweden and abroad, companies are increasingly including carbon offsetting as part of their business model and in their corporate work for social responsibility. Government authorities, NGOs and individuals also want to contribute to reducing global emissions by compensating for the emissions that their actions generate.
To make it easier for companies and organizations that are striving to become climate neutral, Tricorona launched a new climate certification program during 2008. In order for an organization to become certified as “Climate Neutral by Tricorona” our company has three requirements. The organization under consideration must:
- undergo a climate audit to quantify the emissions caused by its activities,
- implement a climate action plan to reduce their own emissions, and
- offset the emissions that remain with a UN-certified CDM project.
Increased Demand Demand for Tricorona Climate Partners’ products and services grew strongly in 2008. Among its customers are both large companies and organizations such as Volvo, ICA, Fortum, the Swedish Postal Service and Sweden’s municipalities and counties, as well as voluntary associations and private individuals. Tricorona Climate Partner turns to Det Norske Veritas to conduct annual audits of its business in order to confirm, among other things, that the amount of canceled emissions credits matches the volume of sold carbon offsetting.
Customized Solutions As the market grows, so does the demand for new products and services. In 2008, TCP has focused on providing services that both meet the need for carbon offsetting computational tools and support clients in business development and communications.
- Climate Strategy – TCP and the client together develop business concepts from a climate perspective.
- Climate Audit – TCP helps the customer in calculating the climate impact of their business.
- Climate Calculation – a tool that can be integrated into the customer’s operations, e.g. into an online reservation system.
- Climate Communication – support for internal and/or external communications, including training.
- Climate Compensation – carbon offsetting with high-quality Premium CERs or Gold Standard projects.
