A selection of our projects

All carbon offsetting sold on this website is supplied using Certified Emissions Reductions from one of Tricorona's carbon projects listed on this page. All of these projects are certified under the Kyoto-protocol's Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), and are renewable energy projects with high sustainability benefits.

Apart from these projects, Tricorona has a large portfolio of other CDM amd JI projects, including several Gold Standard registered projects, which are available on request. Please contact us for more information.

Sree Rayalseema
Biomass power plant, Andhra Pradesh, India

Sree Rayalseema is a 5.5MW biomass power plant in the Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, India. The plant uses agricultural waste as its fuel, such as cotton husk, ground nut shells, sunflower waste, etc. This project was the first of its kind in the region, and by displacing fossil fuels, primarily coal, from the electricity grid, it results in emissions savings of ca 19 000 tons of carbon dioxide every year. In addition, by creating a market for what was previously a waste product, the project generates an additional income source for local farmers and labourers, estimated at 200 direct and 150 indirect permanent jobs.

Shalivahana
Biomass power plant, Andhra Pradesh, India

The project, in Andhra Pradesh, Inia, utilizes biomass fuels (mainly rice husk and sawdust) available in the region for generation of green power. The generated power is sold to the state grid and displace some fossil fuel generated power with green power. Shalivahana produces around 45 GWh per year and hence reduces CO2 emissions by on average 23 000 tons annually.

Nam Chim
Small-scale hydropower, Bac Yen, Vietnam

This project consists of the construction of a small-scale hydropower plant in the Bac Yen district in Northern Vietnam. The power plant includes two 8MW turbines and is expected to produce ca 57 GWh annually. This corresponds to annual carbon emission reductions of ca 33 000 tons. By increasing the power production capacity in this rural area, this project also contributes to a more reliable electricity service in the region, which has typically suffered frequent blackouts and load shedding.

Zhangwu
Windfarm, Liaoning, China

This project is a wind farm outside Fuxin City in the Liaoning region of Northeast China. China's existing power production is almost exclusively fossil-based, and by increasing the proportion of renewable energy in the grid, this project contributes to carbon emission reductions of ca 35 000 tons annually. The wind-power plants are manufactured in Spain and Denmark, and therefore constitute technology transfer to China, in keeping with the spirit of the Kyoto Protocol.
