Haga Initiative
The business network Haga Initiative has eleven well-known members; Axfood, Coca-Cola Enterprises Sverige, Fortum Värme, JM, Lantmännen, Löfbergs Lila, Proctor & Gamble, Scan, Stena Metall, Svenska Statoil and Vasakronan and is coordinated by Tricorona.
The Haga Initiative is about reducing the business sector's carbon emissions, raise the climate crisis as one of the most important issues of the future and act as a role model for companies who want to take active climate responsibility. The companies in the network have set their own carbon reduction goals to be lowered with at least 40 percent by 2020. By showing that ambitious climate strategies lead to business advantages and increased profitability The Haga Initiative wants to push the business sector in the direction needed to meet the climate targets and towards a sustainable society.
The companies in the network also act as role models through climate positive initiatives that are outside of the companies' traditional climate responsibility scopes. These initiatives are set to lead to behavioral changes among customers, suppliers, employees, competitors, and in politics.
The Haga Initiative name has a great symbolic value because is named after the Swedish ecopark Haga. The park is an important carbon sink and a place where great political issues have been debated. The Haga Ecopark summarizes the essence of what the Haga initiative wants to achieve.
