  2008-04-14 Tricorona finances 900 MW of wind power in ChinaTricorona has on this day, in the presence of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt, together with the Swedish Energy Agency, signed two contracts providing partial financing of wind farms with a combined capacity of up to 900 MW in China. This is roughly equivalent to one Forsmark reactor or all the wind power capacity in Sweden. The wind farms will be built in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region (6) and in the provinces of Jilin (2), Gansu (2) and Hebei (1). The agreements call for the purchase of approximately 7 million Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) for delivery during the period 2009–2012, most of which Tricorona will acquire. The contracts also represent an important breakthrough for Tricorona into the national power generation enterprises Datang Corporation and Guohua Energy, which are two of China’s largest electricity producers and actors within the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). With these contracts, Tricorona is laying the groundwork for a long-term collaboration with Datang and Guohua for the development of CDM projects.
